The foundation of our Christian walk is faith. We overcome the world by faith (1 John 5:4).

What is Faith? In Hebrews 11:1-2 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

The main word for “hope” in the New Testament has no uncertainty linked to it, even though it is not realized yet. It will be a reality because Christ Himself secures it, which is our hope
(1Timothy 1:1). Without sure promises in the Word of God, we would have no grounds for hope (Romans 5:1-5; 8:24-25; compare Ephesians 2:12-13; Psalm 119:81, 114).

What does faith do for us?

Saved by faith (Eph. 2:8-10); Justified by faith (Rom. 5:1; 1:17; Heb. 10:38); Our Hearts are purified by faith (Acts 15:9); Walk by faith (2 Cor. 5:7); Sanctified by faith (Acts 26:18);
We have Access by faith into His grace wherein we stand (Romans 5:2); We have the
Promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3:14); Righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ (Romans 3:22); We have Propitiation–God’s wrath being turned away by faith in His blood (Romans 3:25); Christ will Dwell in our Heart by faith (Eph. 3:17); Our Faith overcomes the world (1 John 5:4). (Only to name a few)

How do we build our faith?

Faith comes from the Word of God (Romans 10:17). When we hear and apply the Word of God into our life, faith is the product. Hearing does not mean that we go to church and hear a wonderful message and walk away with great faith. NO! That word we hear or read at home, must change our inner being before faith will grow out of it. We must believe it in our heart, not just our head.

As we are reading the Word of God, when God speaks to us, that Scripture tends to “jump off the page” at us. We should write it down in a notebook, memorize, and apply it to our life. As I looked back in my journal from a year ago, I found a Scripture from last February 11, 2018 that God used later last summer to be the emphasis for my second volume of my book. We never know how God will use a Scripture.

In my book, My Precious Shepherd, the first and last stories are about faith centered around my experience with cancer. I was told that I had 3rd stage cancer and it was found in the lymph system after the first surgery.

When I had just found out I had cancer the night before, God woke me up at 4:00 am to pray. After an hour of agonizing prayer, I had total peace! I went back to bed and slept “like a baby” until it was time to get ready for the day. My heart was still singing and resting in faith. Through several events, God revealed his will to us about this cancer.

Read the first story in my book called “Life is an Exhilarating Whirlwind” (pages 3-15) and the last story “As for God His Ways are Perfect” (pages 227-236). Both of these built our faith greatly in God and His Word. If anyone has cancer or knows someone who does, please read my book because it has many other books and resources listed that will help you. If you would like to speak with me, please contact me on this website under Contact.

Remember, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” (Hebrews 11:6)
